After releasing the first public beta version of iOS and iPadOS 13.4, Apple also released the first public beta update for macOS Catalina 10.15.4. Early users who have registered for the Apple Beta test project can install it through the Software Update page in System Preferences after getting the configuration files properly.

This update mainly introduced the Screen Time Communication Limits, which has been brought to the iPhone with the iOS 13.3 update. This feature allows parents to limit the their children’s contacts, as well as when to use the social apps.

macOS Catalina will add the “Pro Mode”, then how about a low intervention mode?

Today, media 9to5Mac found some evidence in the latest macOS 10.15.3 Beta, which reveals that Apple is developing “professional mode” features for its desktop system to improve the performance of portable Macs. This feature is plain to improve Mac performance at the expense of battery life and fan noise.

We are happy with this feature, but since there is a “professional mode”, should a “low power consumption mode” be added to the other group of users, whose features is the opposite of professional modes to extend the battery life?

Apple has pushed a series of software updates yesterday, including those for iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, macOS and so on. In the macOS Catalina 10.15.2 update, Apple seems to have fixed the sonic boom on the 16-inch MacBook Pro. The MacRumors forum reported that some users who have installed macOS Catalina 10.15.2 update said that the issue of sonic boom had  been eliminated in the new version of the system. After installing the update and trying to play via VLC, Safari, Chrome, Netflix, YouTube, Premiere Pro, and Amazon Prime Video, they found no sonic boom.

Mac finally said goodbye to iTunes. What about Win users?

The release of macOS Catalina may reduce the complaints of Mac iTunes users about Apple’s bloated media management and player applications, but for Windows users, the pain seems to continue indefinitely. Until now, there is no indication that iTunes for Windows will be redesigned or updated. So, when Mac users have a new experience in media services and data transfer, Windows users can only continue to endure the status quo.

Apple officially updated its iTunes page to guide Mac users to upgrade to macOS Catalina and offered three choices for Windows users: standard 64-bit and 32-bit versions, plus a Windows 10 S version of the Microsoft Store. On the app page of the Microsoft Store, we saw a lot of bad reviews: 46% of store users rated only one star for iTunes.

Which devices support macOS Catalina’s “Sidecar”?

Apple has just released macOS Catalina with several new features, including the “Sidecar.” Using a Mac with the latest operating system and an iPad with iPadOS 13, you can turn your iPad into a second fully interactive display, which is “Sidecar.” However, to interact with Mac systems via iPad, users must have a newer iPad and Mac.

1

Apple has decided that “Sidecar” is limited to iPads that support Apple Pencil. If the old iPad you have on hand cannot be used with Apple Pencil, you won’t be able to use the iPad as a second display even if you upgrade to iPadOS 13. The “Sidecar” is not available for the following models:
